So there’s this pretty cool software for windows that I’ve known about for a while called Rainmeter. In short, it’s basically a desktop customization tool that has some cool features. Below are some examples of works people have done for their desktop using this software.
In 2015, Porter Robinson & Madeon worked with A1-Pictures to create Shelter. The short animation depicts what seems to be a light and cheerful story, especially in the beginning. However, as the animation reaches the end, a hidden sadness is revealed within the scenes showed beforehand. It’s a beautiful short animation with a hidden plot twist. Je Yeoran is a Korean abstract artist that uses a squeegee rather than a paintbrush for her paintings. This technique appears to give her painting’s a unique thick texture.
Kikuo Saito is an abstract artist from Tokyo, Japan. His paintings are known for utilizing a variety of colors through delicate strokes. Personally, I find his works to be aesthetically pleasing.
If one of these images seem familiar, you’ve probably heard of Makoto Shinkai. If not, he’s a Japanese animator, filmmaker, and manga artist. His works include 5 Centimeters per Second, Weathering with You, The Garden of Words, and Your Name which are all animated Japanese films. Below are more designs from Your Name and Weathering with You, his two latest films.
I highly recommend looking into it on your free time. The animations are amazing especially for the two particular films above.
