Synesthesia is a neurological condition that causes the brain to process data in the form of several senses at once. For example, a person with synesthesia may hear sounds while also seeing them as colorful swirls.
Melissa McCracken is an artist with Synesthesia. Specifically, she processes songs as colors. Using her condition, her paintings are inspired by her favorite musicians.
I think it’s really interesting to be able to associate color with different sounds and words involuntarily.

Kika Karadi is known for her abstract painting style. Her paintings are inspired by the film noir and horror. She made a lot of large-scale monochromatic paintings. I think it’s interesting to see the texture in her work!

Susan Kare is known for designing well-known icons for the first Apple Mac. She was one of the leaders of pixel art. She is known as the “woman who gave the Macintosh a smile,”.
“I like to think that good icons are instantly recognizable– even if someone’s never seen it, you can ask them what it does, and they get it– or it’s so easy to remember that if someone tells you want it is once, it’s easy to remember when you look at it. I think that’s a lot to ask of a symbol, that if you tested it everyone would all have the same one-word response as its function. But I think I had then, and still have, more of a common sense than a scientific approach to that kind of thing.” – Susan Kare
